HAVE A GREAT SUMMER BREAK
From all the 1st Shepperton Scout Leaders
Our merry band of 17 Scouts, leaders and helpers set off on the train up to town on Saturday and had a fantastic two days in the big city. On arrival at HMS Belfast we stowed the bags had our packed lunches and then explored this incredible ship.
After that a small hike to the Science museum via Tower bridge and Monument (thanks to lots of closed Underground stations!) and a shorter than planned stop at the Science museum we walked back through London past the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye to a very welcome Chinese meal enjoyed by all.
Then it was back to the ship (after a small detour through the amusement arcade) for our overnight stay on HMS Belfast. Our digs for the night were original sailors bunks down in the lower levels of the ship accessed via hatches and ladders.
The next day after breakfast we collected our packed lunches then watched a DVD on the history of the ship, dressed up in authentic naval uniforms and then explored the ship again. We collected our gear and travelled back for a slightly longer visit to the Science and Natural History museums before the long journey home.

Big thanks and many congratulations to our four intrepid rafters, Seb, Harry, Jack and Ardy a fine effort finishing the race in our best time to date, 46mins.
1st Shepperton Scouts Jungle Book themed craft joined an amazing array of 44 other rafts and around 200 crew (an all-time record number for this event) on the Thames at Shepperton during the annual Shepperton Fair Nauticalia Raft Race! Click Here for pics.
We also managed to raise over £2200 on our Burger, drinks, Tombola and Bric-a-Brac stalls.
